N3 Pup Ultralight.

Ultralight Aircraft Magazine - Preceptor N3 Pup is a 3/4 scale version of the Piper Cub, originally offered in kit and plan form from Precetor Aircraft. Building times were reported in the 300 to 500 hour range. It features a welded steel fuselage, with wood wings. The Preceptor N3 Pup is covered in standard aircraft fabric covering. The Ne has a 30 1/2 foot wingspan, is 16 1/2 feet long and 5 feet high. It was available in both a fixed wing and folding wing version. With wings folded it easily fits into a single car garage.

Power was originally supplied by the Mosler CB40 aircraft engine, which is direct drive and spins a 54x24 inch wood propeller. The Mosler engine used mags for ignition and the engine did not have electric start - thus required hand propping.
The N3 Pup single place ultralight is a high wing, monoplane, taildragger in a tractor configuration. Controls are standard 3 axis with stick, rudder and ailerons. Cruise with the Mosler engine came it at around 65 mph. Climb rate at 650 feet per minute, and stall around 30 mph.
